What are your memories of being a student at BNU?
My memories of being a BNU student are getting involved in many activities within the Students Union in our free time. I remember filling my time with fun trips, as well as skills and training courses that enhanced my CV. Also there are many memories with the other dancers on the course, taking part in our technique dance classes that we had throughout the 3 years.
What advice could you give to recent graduates who want to get ahead?
My advice to recent graduates and other dancers on the course would be to gather as much information as possible from the tutors and visiting dance teachers at the university so you are best prepared for the industry. Start to get to know where to find dance jobs e.g. social media accounts to follow, through websites, via apps etc. Many dance jobs happen based on who you know! Talking to other dancers and asking for their contact info so that they know you is important!
How did your degree at BNU impact on your career?
My degree impacted my career by giving me the technique skills, performance skills and much more to have the ability and confidence to peruse a career in dance working abroad.
Why did you join the course?
I joined the course because of my passion for dance and I was interested in seeing how I could improve and where this could take me.
What aspects of your studies did you enjoy the most and why?
I enjoyed the independence of the course and how we were free to make many of our own decisions. We were given many opportunities to attend extra classes, which I took full advantage of! These were so much fun and very varied! I loved dancing with my friends everyday.
What are your major careers milestones since completing your studies?
Major parts of my career include travelling across multiple countries for work. I primarily work in 5* resorts, having around 5 fully choreographed shows per week. These have been in Egypt, Greece and Turkey. I’ve also been a part of the Bollywood industry in India. Getting to experience the culture of these places, as well as travelling to incredible parts of the world (the Pyramids & the Taj Mahal to name a few!) is a great bonus of working abroad.
What are your future ambitions?
My future ambitions are to continue to dance across different counties and eventually continue with my fitness career back in the UK.
