Overview

The latest in our inaugural lecture series will explore how Artificial Intelligence has evolved and how it is set to shape the way we live and work

The third of our current series, Artificial Intelligence Evolution: from Dynamic Model to Large Language Model, will see Professor Qichun (Kit) Zhang, Professor of Inclusive Artificial Intelligence, explore how AI has evolved from early rule-based and dynamic systems to today’s large language models.

He’ll look at key milestones, including the rise of machine learning, neural networks and deep learning, and explain how recent advances in data, computing power and algorithms have transformed AI capabilities.  The session will also consider what this shift means for the future, touching on ethical issues, scalability and the changing role of humans working with AI.

Join us from 4pm on 11 February in BNU's Gateway Lecture Theatre. Please register your attendance via this link.  Everyone is welcome and lectures are free. No prior knowledge of AI is required.

Inaugural lectures celebrate the research excellence and professional achievements of our academic staff and mark the conferment of the titles of Professor or Associate Professor. They provide an opportunity for colleagues, partners, students and members of the wider community to come together to recognise these accomplishments.

Each event is recorded and can be viewed in the series link on the bucks.ac.uk/inaugural-lecture-series.
