Bucks lecturer named judge for national aviation awards

A Bucks New University lecturer has judged the UK’s top aviation industry awards, helping decide which airlines, training providers and technology firms are leading the sector.

Naveed Kapadia, who leads the Aviation Operations and Management course at Bucks, sat on the judging panel for the Aviation Industry Awards UK 2026.

The ceremony was held at the Park Plaza London Riverbank on 22 September.

He was selected for his experience in airline operations, aviation training and safety. Judges reviewed entries covering innovation, sustainability, staff training and operational performance across the industry.

Naveed said: “It was a privilege to contribute to the judging process and to see the breadth of expertise, innovation and commitment demonstrated across the sector. Engagement of this kind helps us maintain strong connections with industry and bring current professional developments, emerging challenges and new perspectives directly into our teaching and wider university activity.”

The event also led to new contacts for the university, with several conversations already developing into potential collaborations.
